Overview
The Department of Social Work at Utah State University (USU) invites applications for an located at the Brigham City Campus. This position represents an important opportunity to join a dynamic, statewide social work program committed to preparing advanced generalist practitioners who address complex individual, family, organizational, and community challenges across diverse settings.
USU’s Social Work programs (BSW and MSW) are grounded in a generalist and advanced generalist framework that integrates case-to-cause practice models, emphasizes systems-level thinking, and prioritizes ethical, strengths-based, and inclusive approaches to practice. Position: This is a nine-month appointment with USU’s social work program (MSW and BSW degrees) beginning August of 2026.
Tenure-track positions have a role assignment of 75% Teaching, supervising, and advising; 15% Research; and 10% Service. Tenure-track positions are renewed annually during the probationary period assuming acceptable performance of the role assignment.
Clinical-track positions have a role assignment of 90% Teaching, supervising, and advising; and 10% Service. Clinical-track positions are renewed annually, assuming acceptable performance of the role assignment.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in BSW and MSW programs, including field seminar
- Advise undergraduate and graduate students
- Supervise practicum placements
- Engage in scholarship and/or professional productivity
- Provide service to the department, college, and the social work profession
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Tenure Track:
- An MSW from a CSWE-accredited social work program
- Two years post-MSW practice experience
- An earned doctorate (PhD or DSW) in social work or closely related field at the time of appointment (ABD will be considered)
- Clinical Track:
- An MSW from a CSWE-accredited social work program
- Two years post-MSW practice experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Tenure Track:
- Experience teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels
- Teaching experience with online and distance education technology
- A record of scholarly activity
- Experience with practicum student supervision
- 4+ years of post-MSW practice experience
- Clinical Track:
- Experience teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels
- CSW or LCSW, or eligibility for Utah state licensure
- Teaching experience with distance education technology
- Experience supervising practicum students
- Experience managing internship coordination and placement
- 4+ years of post-MSW practice experience
