Role Profile
We have an exciting opportunity for a Quality Control Manager based in Virginia, Co. Cavan, and reporting to the Site Quality Head. The role is responsible for managing and developing the Quality Control across all areas of activity. The role is responsible for the management and development of the Plant’s microbiological, physical and/or chemical testing regime, owned and contracted, across the manufacturing operation. 

Key Responsibilities
•    Lead and develop the lab team to optimise their performance through coaching, performance development and training;
•    Ensure daily and weekly lab work schedules are completed efficiently;
•    Carry out regular lab team performance reviews to ensure continued focus on optimum performance to meet business and customer requirements;
•    Proactively improve methods in line and ahead of industry best practice in line with Lean;
•    Manage the testing required for our Improvement Projects, Mass Balance, Wastewater and In Process Testing;
•    Work closely with relevant site stakeholders including Operations, R&D, Supply Chain and Commercial staff, to problem solve quality issues;
•    Lead laboratory investigations (LIR);
•    Positive release of products (where applicable);
•    Ensure compliance to current laboratory quality system accreditation;
•    Manage customer and Regulatory audits within the laboratories;
•    Oversee the maintenance of the SAP QM system and LIMS;
•    Optimise the utilisation and deployment of LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and act as SME for site;
•    Manage health & safety standards.

 

Key Requirements
•    Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Science or related discipline;
•    Min. 5 years relevant industry experience working at a similar level in a related field;
•    Experience in a large Dairy, Food or Pharmaceutical company in Quality Assurance/GLP;
•    Leadership and people management experience;
•    Strong quantitative skills, proven attention to detail with effective organisational skills;
•    Proven ability to develop, adapt and validate testing methods;
•    Expertise in relevant laboratory techniques and instrumentation;
•    A working knowledge of Microsoft Office, SAP QM and LIMS is desirable.
