The Guyana Healthcare Initiative

Since 2022, Mount Sinai has been engaged in a collaborative partnership to support the Government of Guyana’s efforts to improve access to high-quality healthcare for the people of Guyana. The Arnhold Institute for Global Health (AIGH) and MSI work collaboratively to serve as advisors for Guyana on the development and implementation of the National Health Strategy. Funded with support from the Government of Guyana and the Hess Corporation, this work has accelerated national efforts to improve the care people receive at every level of the country’s health system.

As part of Mount Sinai’s efforts, MSI has provided expert advice and support focusing on expanding and strengthening clinical services and improving care delivery at Guyana’s main hospitals and other healthcare facilities. MSI has partnered with GPHC leadership to develop over 10 different strategic workstreams with the common goal of improving operations, overall quality, and service delivery at Guyana’s flagship hospital.

The Role

MSI is seeking qualified professional to serve as the Director, Clinical Collaborations for MSI’s key programs in the Co-operative Republic of Guyana, including the collaboration with the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), the National Quality and Safety Program, the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, the National Cancer Center, and other programs (the “Programs”). The Director, Clinical Collaborations will also lead the development, management, and administrative objectives for the Programs in Guyana.

The Director, Clinical Collaborations will support the implementation of the Programs in Guyana ensuring quality, alignment, and collaboration with key stakeholders. They will facilitate, coordinate, and support advisory teams from MSI as they provide advisory and training services to local leaders of the partner facilities. The Director, Clinical Collaborations, will be part of the leadership team for the Programs, reporting to the Medical Director of MSI.

This role is based in Georgetown, Guyana (full-time).

Under the direction of the Medical Director, Mount Sinai International, the Country Director, Guyana will:

• Plan, direct, and coordinate program activities in Guyana to ensure Programs goals and objectives are achieved on time and within budget.
• Maintain a consistent presence on-site according to needs across cohort institutions participating in the Programs and any additional locations. 
• Participate in virtual engagements for the Programs, accompany the core team and experts for all site visits for training and monitoring, and independently conduct monthly on-site progress monitoring of and reporting for all sites to the core team.
• Support project management, budget allocation, staffing, technical needs, and other resources needed for the successful completion of Programs deliverables.
• Participate in executive leadership meetings with key stakeholders and Programs leadership.
• Collaborate with the executive leadership of MSI in the formation of Programs teams, refinement and development of program work plans and implementation strategies, and standard operating procedures to ensure program goals are achieved.
• Establish, develop, and maintain partnerships with internal and external Programs stakeholders to support and facilitate the successful implementation of Programs objectives.
• Support presentations for Programs overviews, progress reports, and proposals to key stakeholders in Guyana and the US.
• Maintain effective and constructive communications with Programs leadership and other key stakeholders.
• Support the implementation of communication strategies for the Programs, including the development of Programs reports, marketing materials, and materials used for outreach and Programs implementation.
• Partners and coordinates as required with the Country Director and other Mount Sinai in-country personnel on in-country operations, security, logistics, and other considerations critical to achieving Programs objectives.
