The Senior Test Engineer- HW/SW Support is part of the Expert on Call (EOC) team focused on the development, integration, test, and maintenance of hardware/software as a part of on-site factory support of test systems to support product testing. In this role, you will develop applications, libraries, and instrument drivers using the software style, development language, and integrated development environment specified by the organization.

This position provides the opportunity to contribute to multidiscipline engineering teams. Typical work involves the development of both engineering and production test equipment, environments, and systems. As such, you will contribute to the completion of all stages of test product development for Collins Aerospace test products. You will be expected to act, either as a part of their team or independently, to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of test systems.

This position will work onsite in our Cedar Rapids, IA facility.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and maintain ATE (Automated Test Equipment) test software for a factory/production environment which exercises and analyzes hardware deliverable products.

  • Support cradle to grave efforts including requirements, design, integration, validation, verification, and maintenance for all test software activities.

  • Prioritize, handle, and lead multiple tasks in a production environment.

  • Troubleshooting software and hardware for test equipment development.

  • Communication with an engineering team, functional and program leadership.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience or an Advanced Degree and a minimum of 3 years of prior engineering or equivalent experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.  

  • Must have experience supporting automated test stations or systems

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • Experience with software applications using C, C++, C#, NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, or other test software programming languages.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Strong technical writing skills and an ability to collaborate with a cross functional team of professionals.

  • Ability to interface ATE test software with laboratory and production tests instrumentation such as but not limited to oscilloscopes, digital multi-meters, and/or direct current power supplies.

  • Knowledge of software Configuration Management environments such as Git/Github/Subversion

  • Experience with file transfer protocol (FTP) and data transfer between Unit Under Test and test set computer for Software/Firmware loading as well as data captures.
