About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Logistics Procurement to lead and oversee our logistics procurement function. This role is responsible for procuring and sourcing logistics services across our supply chain; including transportation, warehousing, and distribution. The ideal candidate will create and implement strategic procurement practices, manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and optimize costs. This position requires strong analytical skills, market knowledge, and a strategic mindset to ensure logistics operations align with company goals for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.

For California Only - The estimated annual salary for this position is between $133,000 - $200,000 annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Devise and implement comprehensive procurement strategies for logistics services; including transportation, warehousing, and distribution, to achieve business objectives
  • Optimize logistics costs while maintaining high service standards and reliable delivery
  • Collaborate with the Logistics Director in the design and selection of vendors (3PLs, freight forwarders, transportation, reverse logistics, refurbish suppliers, brokers, and trade consultants)
  • Research, assess, and select potential logistics suppliers, evaluating their capabilities and competitiveness
  • Negotiate contracts to secure favorable pricing, service levels, and terms; focusing on building long-term partnerships
  • Develop and manage the logistics procurement budget, monitor expenditures, and report on financial performance
  • Analyze market trends, benchmark costs, and identify cost-saving opportunities to meet financial targets
  • Partner with supply chain, operations, and logistics teams to ensure alignment of procurement decisions with business objectives
  • Lead supply chain resilience initiatives; including risk management, contingency planning, and diversification of logistics providers
  • Utilize data analytics to monitor procurement performance, evaluate supplier effectiveness, and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Prepare regular reports on metrics like cost savings, supplier performance, and risk assessments for senior management
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and international trade requirements in all procurement activities
  • Conduct risk assessments for suppliers, identify potential disruptions, and develop risk mitigation strategies
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing logistics procurement team; promoting accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration
  • Develop training and coaching programs to enhance team skills and knowledge in logistics procurement

 

We’re excited if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) preferred
  • Minimum of 10+ years in procurement or sourcing of logistics providers, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • Proven expertise in logistics procurement, contract negotiation, vendor management, and cost optimization
  • In-depth knowledge of logistics operations, including ocean, air, ground, and rail transportation, and familiarity with warehouse and transportation cost structures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management abilities
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaborate with various teams
