Microfluidics Engineer - Cell Analysis

At Zafrens we work at the cutting edge of engineering, biology and chemistry to develop innovative products and drugs that are category defining. We are unconstrained by traditional product development methodologies and seek to utilize unique insights and abilities of our colleagues to conceive new ideas and accelerate product development across tools, cells and drugs.

We are currently looking for an interdisciplinary engineer at the intersection of microfluidics, microfabrication and bio-analysis. The ideal candidate will help us manipulate single cells and cell cultures in microfluidic environments. A strong background in handling and assaying mammalian cells is essential. Experience with a variety of micro and nanofabrication techniques is highly desirable, as well. Also beneficial would be prototyping skills in one or more of mechanical, electrical or optical engineering disciplines (we will be integrating the fabricated features with imaging, fluidic, mechanical and robotic systems). The projects we are interested in covers single cell isolation, single-cell genomics, single-cell multiomic analysis, selection and isolation of cells of specific phenotype and perturbing cells with biological and chemical perturbagens.

We are open to a wide variety of background and experience. Our core interest is in creating a core team of inventive, multidisciplinary scientists who are excited about developing new tools that unlock value at the cutting edge of engineering, biology and chemistry.

Requirements

- Strong background in isolation and manipulation of cells in microfluidic environments

- Experience setting up cell-based assays in microfluidic environments

- Background integrating fabricated microstructures with biology, optics and/or fluidics

- Enthusiasm for conceiving and exploring new ideas at the interface of different disciplines

- Demonstrated ability to work in a team
