Job Description:

As a Sr. Manager Software Engineering you will be responsible for the technical development of software engineering staff, while using your technical expertise to drive vision into action and results supporting enterprise applications. This Senior Manager role plays a critical part in the development of their engineering team working on home-grown enterprise services applications and will take the lead on effectively skilling, tooling and allocating engineering members to best support the needs of the Product team. This role will lead the effort to determine where modernization for this suite of home-grown applications is appropriate, and leverage AWS and OpenShift where applicable.

Investing in the development of the engineering team through coaching and leadership is part of the Discover culture. While coaching and development of engineers is this role’s primary responsibility, the Senior Manager will also work with their Sr. Manager Product Owner peers to help shape the product vision for their products. Responsibilities:

· Hire, retain and lead high-functioning, diverse group of engineering professionals, establishing clear objectives and key results, developing consistent set of practices and process across the team and driving towards resolution of challenging problems; Includes all performance management aspects of leading engineers including acquiring and 360 feedback providing and administering reviews.

· Mentor staff of engineers in both technical and soft skills including ensuring the group is adhering to principles of engineering excellence: Code maintainability, Quality, Monitoring, Security, Operational Excellence, and Documentation.

· Partners with business stakeholders in the analysis of short- and long-range business requirements and recommends solutions to achieve the objective.

· Regularly provides updates on progress and blockers to business stakeholders and senior leadership.

· Contribute as a senior engineer within a product team designing, developing and maintaining quality technology solutions for a product or set of produc
