About the role
Meta seeks a highly motivated intellectual property lawyer with a passion for music to serve as AGC, Music, a licensing and product counsel role. This position will partner closely with internal business counterparts to negotiate and deliver partnerships with record companies, music publishers, CMOs, and other music industry stakeholders across territories, and also work closely with a wide range of cross-functional teams to provide strategic and tactical counseling on the integration of music within Meta’s family of apps.Associate General Counsel, Music Legal Responsibilities

- Support Meta’s music business development team in executing our music licensing strategy across labels, publishers, and collective management organizations
- Draft and negotiate partnership agreements with music industry stakeholders
- Collaborate with Meta cross-functional teams such as product, finance, tax, policy, regulatory, privacy, risk management
- advise teams on music rights and related issues
- Provide legal assistance for integration of music content across our family of apps
- Provide product knowledge and insight for colleagues on the Music Legal and Business Development teams
- Collaborate with other members of the legal team (notice/takedown, regulatory, corporate, privacy, etc.) to ensure business needs are met
- Instruct and manage outside counsel, as necessary
- Attorney, qualified to practice in the United States
- 5+ years of legal experience
- Experience dealing with and advising on digital rights and distribution
- Experience with new and evolving technologies
- Experience operating under your own initiative and juggling multiple projects across different jurisdictions
- Copyright or digital licensing experience, including hands-on experience negotiating agreements with record labels, music publishers and/or music collective management organizations
- Experience with secondary liability issues and laws in the US and abroad (e.g. DMCA, CDA, E-Commerce Directive, etc.)
- Knowledge of digital music industry hot button issues, both label and publishing
- Experience working with and leading cross-functional teams to get the job done
- Commercial awareness and business judgment
- Proven track record of proactively identifying, scoping and implementing novel strategies and solutions
- Experience prioritizing and working under pressure with tight deadlines
- Some experience as product counsel
