Research Scientist- Biopharma Upstream Processes

The Opportunity:

Avantor, a Global Fortune 500 company is looking for a dedicated Research Scientist-   Biopharma Upstream Processes to optimize our Biopharma Production organization. This Bridgewater, NJ/ Innovation Center role is full-time, on-site.

Minimum Education Requirement:

• BS in chemistry, chemical engineering or relevant scientific discipline

Required Experience (1+ yr.):

• Conducting hands-on bioanalytical testing needed for product/protein characterization, process optimization and product commercialization.
• Utilizing bioanalytical techniques to characterize proteins, peptides and cellular materials (IE: HPLC/UPLC, SEC, GC-MS)
• Utilizing bio analytical techniques (IE: SDS-PAGE, ELISA, Cell based assays, Western Blot, glycosylation, peptide/amino acid characterization).
• Preparing reports, publications, and oral presentations to advance projects or resolve process/product issues and customer complaints development/characterization and technical problem-solving activities.
• Researching, developing, and transferring analytical and cell based methods for intermediate and finished goods release testing and stability studies/shelf-life determination.

Preferred Experience:

• cGMP, Compendia, FDA, ICH / regulatory agency requirements
• Collaboration skills (IE: Microsoft Office, ELN).
• Empower, MassLynx, ChemStation, OpenLab and/ or Mass Hunter

The Research Scientist – Biopharma Upstream Processes will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team of scientists focused on the development of new products.

The successful applicant will:

• Have a broad background in the biochemical sciences, hands-on experience, knowledge of bio analytical techniques, and be curious to learn and adopt new skills.
• Be guided by Avantor core values of innovation, customer centricity, accountability, respect and excellence.
• Work with cross-functional teams to address analytical challenges by using various bioanalytical methodologies to define product quality, characterization of proteins and support product specifications.
• Interface with project teams to drive projects to completion and resolve challenges related to characterization of various molecules and processes.
•  Work with customers and internal organizations to address any issue or to assist in the evaluation of products.
• Participate in regular project check-in meetings and adjusts plan/activities based on feedback to meet project deadlines.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT

The work environment is a laboratory/office setting, and the appropriate PPE will be required in designated areas. The Research Scientist may occasionally travel to other Avantor locations or customer sites.
