Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS), a leader in software defined, hardware enabled systems for national defense applications, is developing a next-generation Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system for Engineering and Manufacturing product and process data.  This system will be the foundation of our digital transformation and the future of advanced Engineering and Manufacturing capabilities and automation within the company, including Model-Based Engineering and Additive Manufacturing.

We are seeking a senior test engineer! As a member of the test team you will be developing automated tests based on standard tools to improve defect avoidance, test throughput, and customer confidence.  The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing test automation for all levels of testing, including unit, system integration, functional, and regression on a variety of platforms.  The Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Software Sr. Principal Test Automation Engineer will support the deployment of Teamcenter throughout Northrop Grumman Missions Systems as the PLM Solution. This is a remote work opportunity.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Automation Framework Development: Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts using Playwright, with a focus on JavaScript/TypeScript.

  • Test Execution and Reporting: Execute testing across the entire PLM environment/s, including COTS software, configured COTS software, and full custom software including multiple integrations and middleware; execute automated test cases via CI/CD pipeline; analyze test results, and report defects; ensure all defects are clearly documented and communicated to the development team; ensure KPI dashboards are updated, provide testing status, generate reports, track metrics, and create test closure reports.

  • Teamcenter Integration Testing: Leverage Siemens Teamcenter experience to ensure effective testing of PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems and their integrations with other applications.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, developers, and quality assurance teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and translated into test scenarios.

  • Continuous Improvement: Enhance and optimize existing test automation frameworks to improve performance, scalability, and coverage; advocate for enhancing regression test coverage and automation of test scripts development; keep current with advances in test practices and methodologies.

  • CI/CD Pipeline Integration: Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar tools.

  • Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of test processes, frameworks, and defect reports.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree with 10 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a PhD with 4 years of experience; a High School diploma or equivalent with 12 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.

  • 5+ years of experience with Selenium/Playwright: Hands-on experience in building and maintaining test automation frameworks using Selenium / Playwright, preferably with a focus on web-based applications.

  • 3+ years of JavaScript/TypeScript Expertise: Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript for test scripting and automation tasks.

  • 2+ years of experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), managing automation code, and collaborating with other team members.

  • Editors / IDE: Experience with Eclipse or Visual Studio Code (VSCode).
