Director - Clinical Operations

Job Details

The Director of Clinical Operations provides oversight support to DFCM’s broad portfolio of clinical programs, including ambulatory primary care, inpatient hospital consults, specialty care and complex care models. Director serves as leader and mentor to clinical operations leaders and as an internal consultant in the development and evolution of new and existing clinical programs. Director partners closely with administrative and operational leaders within Department, most specifically the departmental administrator, to align business operations, financial needs and processes to support the growing scope of clinical practice. Director supports and in some cases directly oversees clinical projects, contractual arrangements, long-range planning and clinical operational needs.

Job Description

• Oversees and ensures optimal operational efficiency for DFCM’s broad and evolving clinical models.
• Develops and oversees implementation of operational protocols, program management tools.
• Ensures operational efficiency, top of license practice and gold standard patient care in all of DFCM’s clinical settings.
• Supports and oversees large, complex ambulatory and inpatient clinical practices with 65+ support staff members.
• Works with clinical leaders in all areas (including nursing, medical assistants, physicians, behavioral health consultants, social workers, and advance practice providers) to develop and maintain operational protocols that impact patient care.
• Performs reviews of practice business operations; develops recommendations and supports their implementation, promotes efficiency and effectiveness of practice operations at the divisional level.
• Performs reimbursement and coding analyses, develops policies and operating procedures, monitors legislative/regulatory developments, trains divisional practice staff and supports program development
• Monitors third-party regulations and legislative developments regarding billing and reimbursement; communicates to divisional and billing office staff, and Administrator.
• Supports/monitors annual reviews of third-party reimbursement profiles and practice fee schedule updates.
• Supports and monitors development/implementation of Department policies at the divisional level, addressing charge capture, patient registration, accounts receivable management, forms design, guest relations issues, etc.
• Analyzes department/divisional practice statistics, including information regarding patient visit and procedural volumes, payer mix, collection rations, practice revenues. Makes periodic presentations to Division Chiefs regarding practice activities status/developments.
• Monitors compliance with third-party documentation requirements ensuring all IL-372 guidelines are met, and facilitates establishment of new codes with third-party insurers.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in business required. Master degree in health care management or business preferred. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree in business, other Bachelor’s level training and clinical operations experience of at least 10 years is required.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in clinical care office environment, preferably in a primary care practices.  Prior supervisory or management experience is required.
