Assistant Area Leader

You will work closely with the Area Manager to ensure the success of your assigned location by meeting sales goals, managing inventory, and developing your team—all while upholding our core values. Tropic Supply is the place for you! Key Responsibilities:

Communication:

• Champion the company’s core values and communicate standards clearly to the team.
• Share challenges and successes with the Area Manager and offer effective solutions.
• Foster an environment of trust and open communication with both customers and team members.

General Operations:

• Identify and resolve challenges and opportunities within the location promptly.
• Ensure efficient operation and maintenance of the Resource Center Showroom and Warehouse.
• Manage loss prevention, physical security, and cash controls.
• Monitor reports to identify missed opportunities and recommend future solutions.
• Execute marketing and training plans as directed by the Home Office.
• Handle customer warranty claims and credit returns according to company policy.
• Manage labor and overtime costs effectively.

Inventory Management:

• Adhere to company standards for inventory management and conduct cycle counts regularly.
• Maintain product availability and appropriate product mix through consistent communication with the Purchasing Team.
• Ensure inventory and displays are maintained and presented according to company standards.

Customer Service:

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers.
• Ensure high levels of customer service are provided by the Resource Center team.
• Assist customers with product inquiries and ensure accurate and timely information delivery.
• Help customers load products/materials into their vehicles when necessary.

Team Leadership:

• Lead by example and actively engage with all team members.
• Address team member performance issues promptly and appropriately.
• Assist in selecting, onboarding, training, and developing team members.
• Manage team members objectively and consistently.

Safety:

• Ensure all warehouse equipment is operated safely and complies with company policy.
• Comply with all OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory agency standards.
• Report any safety concerns, incidents, or accidents to the Area Manager promptly.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5-7 years of management experience in a similar role and industry.
• Strong relationship-building and customer service skills.
• Proficiency in computer use and ability to learn parts management software.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to lift and handle items weighing up to 75 pounds regularly.
• Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Environment/Working Conditions:

• Stand, walk, and sit on tile/concrete floors for most of the workday.
• Regularly lift up to 75 pounds and operate warehouse equipment.
• Work in a non-conditioned warehouse that can vary in temperature.
