Senior Manager, Purchasing

About the role
- Reports to a Director or VP level within DENSO North America Purchasing Group (NAPG) supervising procurement officers or team members, and working across functional and geographic boundaries to support global or regional operations.
- Supports the development of long-term strategies for the Purchasing function; aligns and executes plans as approved by Purchasing top management and monitors achievement.
- Develop and deploy sourcing strategies for MRO spend, incorporating market insights, risks, opportunities, and best practices.
- Leads the MRO Purchasing team for development and negotiation of complex supplier agreements while considering the business needs and obtaining proper approvals.
- Conduct cost analysis, issue RFPs/RFQs, and secure competitive pricing to maximize total value of ownership while monitoring supplier performance.
- Maintain an understanding of industry best practices and implement continuous improvement initiatives for MRO procurement (kaizen.)
- Manage supplier performance through KPIs and scorecards and manages supply chain risks.
- Ensure compliance with governance requirements and adherence to procurement policies, legal frameworks, and sustainability requirements.
- Builds strong relationships with both suppliers and internal Purchasing contacts located within North America and Globally; strong collaboration and attention to continuous improvement.
- Negotiate resolution of difficult situations relative to purchasing activities, both within and outside of the company.
- Prepares MRO procurement related reports and reviews the reports of others for submission to Purchasing top management and other business executives.
- Performs Human Resources activities including tracking of time and attendance, associate counseling, scheduling, evaluating work performance and assists in skill development.
- Fosters high morale and teamwork by supporting the activities of subordinates through daily interaction and one on one contact.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related field
- 10+ years of Related Experience
- 3+ years of people leadership experience
- Strategic mindset and risk management
- Knowledge of Purchasing procedures and terms and supply chain management
- Ability to identify and implement system/ process improvements
- Excellent problem solving and cross-functional collaboration
- Proven ability to prepare and lead difficult negotiations and the ability to influence others
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and good presentation skills
- Competent level of experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- People management direct and indirect reports
