Job Description
The Sr. Staff Systems Engineer performs requirements analysis and management, technical planning, systems level design, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk management, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for products in the C4ISR portfolio. Analyses are performed during all phases of the product development process to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance. The Sr. Staff Systems Engineer will provide technical leadership and guidance to the team in the development of new and existing C4ISR systems and components.

- Education and experience with Communications Theory and Signal Processing covering the most common Channel and Source coding techniques and implementations including
- AM/FM/CPFSK/QAM/etc.
- Convolutional/Turbo/STC/LDPC coding
- Adaptive Techniques – equalizers, echo cancellers, beamforming, DPD
- Data Compression
- Spread Spectrum – LPI/LPD/LPE/multiuser access
- Past design and architecture experience with Wireless Communications Systems such as Software Defined Radios, Small Form Factor Radios, or other Tactical and Non-Tactical Radio configurations
- Design knowledge of red/black separation and cryptographic interface layer solutions
- Circuit Design, schematic capture, circuit layout and simulation such as RF path cascade analysis
- Antenna and receiver design, RF theory such as wave propagation
- RF signal analysis, end-to-end system design, emitter locations and direction-finding techniques
- Familiar with Commercial and DoD telecommunication standards, protocols and topologies
Ability to apply concepts, theories, and methods for designing, analyzing, testing, and integrating electrical and communications systems, including aspects of energy conversions, electrical power generation, and energy transmission, control distribution, or use applying principles of math, physics, electronics theory, electrical networking theory, and control systems to the design, fabrication, and testing of devises that are designed to operate in the radio frequency spectrum.
- Hardware Design: analog (A/D amplifiers, power supplies, switches), board level (board layout, circuit analysis, firmware), chip technologies (ASIC, CMOS, VHDL, VLSI), and digital (control logic, control systems, DSP, serial communications).
- Programming (e.g., Assembly Language, C, C++, JAVA, MATLAB, Python, Ruby, Shell Script, Turbo C, VHDL, System Verilog, Visual Basic).
- Computer Networking (e.g., communication protocols, distributed systems, Internet of Things, real-time systems, routing and switching).
- Lab Equipment (e.g. spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, networking analyzers, etc.)

- Review, develop, and document system level requirements, CONOPS, and mission statements
- Work with all Technical functions to develop and document product architectures that meet technical, cost and schedule goals.
- Define and execute trade studies that result in selection of the most optimal approach to complex design and architecture issues
- Perform requirements management, analysis, and allocations on complex systems design
- Ability to effectively document and communicate designs, results, reports, and presentations
- Produce and/or review technical documents, specifications and standards
- Research, conceptualize, and evaluate complex system architectures and product designs, recommend design modifications to improve product performance, cost, reliability, and development schedule (can be activity lead or in supporting role)
