About the role

Building Services at the University of Tennessee at Martin is accepting applications for a Carpenter/Paint Shops Foreman.  This position supervises both the Carpenter Shop and Paint Shop. Participates in the planning, layout, repair, renovations, and maintenance of temporary and permanent buildings and structures in accordance with blueprints, sketches, and verbal instructions.
Plans and schedules work ensuring adequate coverage and proper distribution of work assignments, space, and facilities.
 

-Responsible for daily management and supervision of both the carpenter shop and paint shop. Coordinate, instruct, plan, and oversee work activities, job estimates, staff evaluations, and staffing. communicate with members of the shop and administrative personnel.
-This position is the liaison to coordinate all trades required for each campus project including contractors, foreman supervisors, information technology employees, and maintenance. In this coordination it requires scheduling, estimates, total design reviews, and end users needs.
-Project manager and decision making in working with outside contractors and campus leadership.
This position is responsible for researching bet practices and historical data to design current and future systems to meet UT policies and codes for strategic planning. During the research of each project, this position is responsible for contacting current, past, and future contractors/vendors for projects.
 

Typically requires a high school diploma and six years of relevant experience, or a combination of education, training, and experience. 
Valid driver’s license
Ability to multi-task between areas of responsibility
Must have good organization skills 
Managerial skills including supervision, estimating, invoicing, and basic computer skills.
Ability to reach and understand engineering plans/drawings
Ability to lead, teach, and train others.
