The Senior Liability Adjuster manages complex third-party Liability claims including property damage, offering expert opinions and recommendations to management and carriers. Responsibilities include evaluating coverage for both personal and commercial claims, conducting thorough investigations, establishing a settlement value of the losses, conducting settlement negotiations, and managing the disposition of claims in a timely manner. This position responds to settlement demands and governmental inquiries, and supports other adjusters as needed.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support and provide professional opinions and recommendations to management and carriers regarding complex third-party liability claims.
- Evaluate coverage for complex personal and commercial liability claims, including any applicable coverage limitations, prepare coverage disclaimer letters as warranted.
- Handle a variety of complex legal matters and claims.
- Conduct appropriate investigation into liability claims.
- Manage, direct, and cooperate with assisting counsel, engineers, experts, etc. regarding investigations and settlement negotiations when prudent.
- Establish settlement value of losses.
- Conduct settlement negotiations based on exposure.
- Oversee the timely disposition of claims.
- Provide information to various departments and conduct presentations to senior management and carriers.
- Interpret liability insurance policies.
- Respond to or coordinate responses to settlement demands, subpoenas, and governmental information requests regarding claims and litigation.
- Assist other adjusters when asked or as necessary.
- Occasional management duties in direct supervisor’s absence.
- Maintain appropriate Adjuster License by adhering to Continuing Education requirements, rules, etc.
- Participate in CAT Duty as required.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree or higher and a minimum of seven (7) years of experience handling third-party liability claims and/or litigation, including complex claims, required.
Equivalent experience may substitute for educational requirements. Equivalent experience may include eight (8) years of relevant experience.
CERTIFICATIONS
Industry education and designations, or active pursuit of industry designations (i.e. Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associates in Claims (AIC), Senior Claims Law Associate (SCLA) preferred.
LICENSES
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Valid Claims Adjuster's License required (i.e. Florida Staff or Independent Adjuster’s License)

Write comprehensive reports and business correspondence, deliver clear presentations, and engage effectively with executive-level audiences. Exceptional communication skills, active listening, and adaptability are essential.
