Job Description

NBCUniversal’s Video Platform team owns the video supply chain which allows us to enable marketing as a growth engine. We need an experienced software engineer with a broad background to participate in the ongoing development of a very large microservices based system. We have a very collaborative environment and a distributed team, so we need someone who is conscientious, energetic, and passionate. We are looking for an engineer who is very good at influencing and teaching their fellow technologists. We are a mature Agile/Scrum shop and work in two-week sprints. This role is 100% remote.

Responsibilities will include:

• Develop highly scalable services following a microservice architecture
• Design, develop and deliver software on progressive and growing platforms, primarily using Java and Spring
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and other code quality related initiatives
• Actively participate in design discussions
• Closely partner with other Software Engineers and Software Quality Engineers
• Conduct peer-reviews of application code, ensuring that all code complies with team standards
• Complete tasks as part of an agile team and adapt to dynamic business requirements
• Inspect and resolve issues in development, test, and production environments
• Effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have a bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent degree
• Must have 7+ years of experience in the field
• Must have experience working with a microservices architecture
• Must have experience building scalable, high-volume services
• Must have hands-on experience developing with Java and the Spring Framework
• Must have hands-on experience developing containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Must have hands-on experience with AWS cloud infrastructure as well as different AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, SNS
• Must have hands-on experience with NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB as well as with relational databases
• Must be experienced with TDD
• Must be experienced working in Agile/Scrum environments

Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with GraphQL is a plus
• Experience building Serverless applications with Node.js is a plus
• Experience with Elasticsearch is a plus
• Experience with AWS Kinesis is a plus
• Experience with Apache Camel is a plus
• Experience working within a Continuous Integration workflow is a plus
• Experience acting as a technical lead is a plus
