The Associate Director of Planned Giving works in collaboration with, and under the supervision of, the Executive Director of Planned Giving to market, solicit, and manage planned gifts for Penn Medicine. This includes gifts made through bequests and other deferred vehicles, life-income gifts, blended gifts, complex assets, and outright gifts with a focus on unrestricted term and unrestricted endowment designations. The Associate Director will support and enhance a proactive program of direct contact with alumni, grateful patients, friends, and faculty.Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Visit and communicate (e.g. letters, phone calls, video conferences, meetings, visits, events, etc.) with planned giving prospects as well as with their legal, tax, and financial advisors when applicable to cultivate, solicit, close, and steward planned gifts.
- Develop planned giving strategies to help Penn Medicine Development and Alumni Relations (PMDAR) colleagues identify planned gift prospects within their portfolios and help advance and close deferred, blended, outright, and split-interest gifts to the school.
- Work with Executive Director of Planned Giving and PMDAR colleagues to identify new Medical Legacy Circle (MLC) members each fiscal year. The MLC recognizes the nearly 1,600 individuals who have included Penn Medicine in their will or living trust, who have named Penn Medicine as a beneficiary of a retirement plan, life insurance policy or life income gift, or who have made a tax-advantaged gift of IRA assets by way of a qualified charitable distribution (QCD).
- Work with PMDAR colleagues to provide planned giving component to active reunion program encouraging increased class participation and Medical Legacy Circle (MLC) membership.
