Bombardier’s Business Aircraft London Service Centre in Biggin Hill is part of an award-winning network and is the flagship of Bombardier’s European operation. This Base and Line Maintenance Centre is the fastest-growing Service Centre in Europe and the largest Business Aircraft OEM in the UK. The facility has the capabilities to perform an array of maintenance checks, modifications and upgrades all from this site. Only 14 miles from London, Bombardier’s Biggin Hill Service Centre is ideally located to support operators in the UK region and beyond.
What are your contributions to the team?
The Senior Mechanic leads teams of mechanics as a mentor and coach. In addition, they will troubleshoot, repair, inspect and perform maintenance on customer aircraft. Performs and documents all work performed per appropriate manuals and regulations as required.
Safety & Quality:
- Adhere to Bombardiers Maintenance Organization Procedures, among which the relevant parts of the MOE and applicable work instructions.
- Be a safety champion, leading by example on Environmental / Health / Safety policies and procedures. Performing all work in a safe and timely manner
- Monitor workmanship standards and compliance with regulations and company procedures to ensure continued airworthiness of the aircraft
Aircraft Maintenance:
- Specialise in performing complex repairs/overhaul
- Specialise in fault-finding and diagnostics
- Perform and document work performed per appropriate and approved maintenance data (e.g. aircraft maintenance manuals)
- Correct defects under supervision of Certifying Staff/Support Staff
- Identify defective aircraft components with the Material Return Form
- Determine necessary parts and submit purchase requests
Team Coordination and Oversight:
- Lead groups of junior mechanics and apprentices within designated working area by coaching and mentoring them
- Monitor day-to-day activities for assigned area and report issues and risks to immediate supervisor
- Train and support onboarding of new employees
- Utilise all training authorisations (tug, forklift, crane operator) and help coordinate aircraft movements
- Be aware and help manage hours on tasks, supporting the Aircraft Technician (B1) with maintaining the scheduled hours and billing efficiencies
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead in 5-S activities
- Support and implement business changes with a culture of continuous improvement
As our ideal candidate,
- You have recent and demonstrable maintenance experience, ideally within Business Aviation
- You have over 3 years of experience within Bombardier or on Bombardier product and competent knowledge/use of internal systems.
- You are up to date basic knowledge requirements of Appendix I to Part-66
- You have good knowledge of Part-145
- You are up to date with all mandatory training requirements (Human Factors, EWIS, FTS)
- You must have or you will obtain; tug training, forklift, wing grip, crane operator and any other training requirements the business may ask
- You have knowledge on, and practicing of, human factors, human performance and limitations
- You have the ability to interpret and work with engineering drawings
- Ability to effectively and accurately communicate in both written and verbal form on individual and / or aircraft status with customers at all levels
- You have the ability to use standard tools, special tools and to operate ground support equipment
- You have the ability to work in accordance with the maintenance data and to notify the function responsible of defects or mistakes requiring rectification to re-establish required maintenance standards
- You have the ability to identify and rectify existing and potential unsafe conditions
- You have experience understanding critical tasks
- Excellent technical decision-making ability on maintenance tasks and the capability to make sound and logical decisions under pressure
- Ability to effectively escalate unresolved customer, technical, compliance, or personnel-related issues
- Ability to work unsupervised, alone and train others
