About the role

Description

The J Fitness + Sports + Aquatics is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to guide members to the next level, leading a team of premier personal trainers to create exercise programs customized to meet specific needs, develop strength, conditioning, and avoid injury.


The Personal Training Manager is responsible for the personal training department’s operations; financial revenue/expenses; new client attainment and assessment; overseeing the safety and growth of current clients; and continued professional development for the staff of trainers. The Personal Training Manager ensures their team of trainers meet and exceed member expectations in customer satisfaction, fitness goals, and overall J experience. The personal training department at the J has provided services to over 300 J clients annually; services include 1:1, 2:1, small group, youth Speed & Agility, and nutrition.


Essential Functions

  • Conducts Personal Training assessments and sessions to new and current clientele interested in training. Responds to member concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Schedules, hires, manages, and educates a first-rate team of trainers to provide our members the services they desire and remain long standing clientele. 
  • Strives to develop new, creative ideas to achieve department revenue objectives and implement strategies for improving personal training participation, attention, and overall health benefits.
  • Develop, conduct, and arrange for staff development that will continue to educate and produce top notch personal trainers that exceed expectations of members and guests.
  • Achieve monthly sessions provided goals and financial objectives within department by preparing budgets, analyzing/reporting on variances and initiating corrective actions.
  • Manage and maintain safe, functional, and attractive equipment and coordinate the maintenance and upkeep. Ensuring staff knows how to operate all equipment safely and how to report incidents or repairs.
  • Work with committees and staff to develop, implement and work existing programs and events as well as new ones that serve the needs of our members and community.

Requirements

  • Certified Personal Trainer from ACSM, NASM, NSCA, NCCPT or ACE preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Business, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of management experience across areas of focus, e.g. fitness, sports programming, personal training, sales & marketing.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certified.
  • Entrepreneur approach to growing program participation through innovative program offerings and high satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams, manage complex budgets, drive revenue and boost customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems and resolve issues while maintaining accountability for results, strength is to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans.
  • Able to work a variable schedule the includes evenings and weekends.

Physical Requirements

  • Typically bends, stoops and crouches on a regular basis to assist members or while working with equipment.
  • Frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Requires considerable amount of walking and standing throughout the day.
