Senior Superintendent – Senior Maritime Technology Expert
Position Summary:
Leading senior expert on emission technology in Maritime Technology Group.
Maintains and manages emission reduction technology documents.
Proactively lead development of the marine engineering related technologies with strong focus on the areas such as emission reduction technologies, energy efficiency, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and related R & D work. Further ensure that all technical systems and areas of the Company’s new builds conforms design criteria and operational requirements during ship’s entire lifecycle. Provides substantial input and leadership to specific technical and new building projects, delivers the technology development work with technical consultancies, classification societies and other authorities in the industry strongly collaborating with shipyards, RCL operations and other in-house sources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follows and applies development and processes in technology on above mentioned areas. Establish and maintain regular collaboration with the SITE team members in Europe, and further with the fleet and operation in all marine engineering technology related items as needed. Organizes proactive technology development work with current and potential new makers and systems designers and marine operations.
- Actively maintain R&D related collaboration with universities, other research institutes and forums.
- Establishes studies and recommendations in equipment and design solutions for company’s project portfolio.
- Responsible for coordinating and updating guidelines.
- Ensure that all innovations and lessons learned from existing fleet will be implemented on future new build projects.
- Capable to do risk assessment and feasibility studies as required.
- Applies relevant rules and regulations in the development of cruise ship design and building, including evaluation and implementation of new technology.
- Organizing and reporting of design and development processes in the area of new technologies such as energy efficiency, digitalization, artificial intelligene, etc. related to all technical systems.
- Supports and works alongside with the inspection team to participating necessary factory acceptance test (FAT) during the building process. Participate testing processes for quay and sea trial procedures.
- Participates and coordinates in new build approval processes such as drawing, makers and design approvals.
Key skills & experience required:
- Extensive experience of marine engineering technologies, especially from the own field of expertise.
- Good ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Capable to analyse needs and product requirements to create a new design.
