Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Hematology/Oncology

Mayo Clinic Health System is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Medical Oncology practice in Albert Lea with the potential to provide outreach care to Owatonna. The Minnesota Medical Oncology practice is a physician-led team of board-certified Hematology and Oncology physicians working in collaboration with multiple specialties including Radiation Oncology, Surgery, Radiology, and Pathology. You will join a multi-disciplinary team of cancer care professionals focused on diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of various types of cancer. Weekly tumor boards and clinical research trials are part of the practice. This position requires direct patient care and telemedicine services.
The NP/PA in collaboration with Medical Oncologists and a care team consisting of RNs, LPNs, Social Services, Nutrition Services, Pharmacy, and other ancillary support staff provide clinical care to cancer patients at various stages of treatment and recovery.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Obtain Hematology/Oncology specific histories and physicals.
- Order, interpret, diagnose, and communicate diagnostic results to patients and care team members.
- Devise and implement treatment care plans.
- Facilitate and deliver patient education regarding Hematology/Oncology conditions.
- Provide Hematology/Oncology follow-up care.
Clinical time will be in the outpatient setting, and may provide infusion center support.
Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current MN RN and APRN license and certification as an ANP, FNP, or ACNP.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the MN State Board of Medical Practice.
Must be eligible for DEA registration and billing privileges.
Prior experience in Oncology is preferred, but we will consider new graduates.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Additional Qualifications:
Possess ability to work independently/autonomously and collaboratively with other health care professionals. Have extensive patient assessment skills using diagnostic methods and instruments and possess the ability to develop appropriate plan of care, modifying as indicated. Possess effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and members of health care team. Candidate must practice patient-centered evidence-based care.
