We are seeking an enthusiastic and capable associate scientist to work as an integral part of our Boston Discovery Chemistry Separations Sciences Group.

Job Description

For this hands-on laboratory role, responsibilities include monitoring and maintaining HPLC, SFC, and lab automation instrument performance, executing sample handling tasks, managing the ordering and stocking of chemicals and consumables, and purification of small molecules from reaction mixtures by applying standard high-throughput LC/MS (Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectroscopy) technologies.

To achieve this, the candidate must have excellent skills in interacting and communicating with others, adapting to changing situations and managing their time, and a strong drive to help Medicinal Chemistry projects succeed. It is expected that the successful candidates will learn quickly through on-the-job training to become increasingly skilled and independent in analytical chemistry and chromatography.

Qualifications

 Education Minimum Requirement: 

  • BS (Bachelor of Science) degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or other physical science.

Required Experience:

  • Understanding of analytical chemistry and organic chemistry concepts

  • Hands-on experience in the utilization of HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography), LCMS (Liquid Chromatography Mass spectroscopy), and/or SFC (Supercritical Fluid Chromatography) instrumentation

  • Knowledge of mass spectrometry and LCMS data interpretation

  • Ability to multi-task and deliver on multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Highly self-motivated, collaboration-oriented focus and attention to detail are critical to success in this position to support cross-functional teams across dynamic research programs

  •  Exceptional communication and organizational skills

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledge of HPLC and/or SFC purification of one or more of the following classes of chemical compounds: small molecules, peptides

  • Knowledge of operation of laboratory automation instrumentation (e.g., automated balances, liquid handlers, automated chromatography)

  • Knowledge of informatics and understanding of analytical software for data analysis
