Essential Functions
- Serves as Chief of Intelligence & Internal Investigations.
- Serves as Chief Investigator.
- Coordinates the gathering and compiling of information on the individual in custody population.
- Monitors the development and coordination of training standards and modules for statewide training of institutional intelligence staff, as well as approved Corrections Intelligence System users.
- Serves as full-line supervisor.
- Serves as spokesperson for DOC on all issues relating to the Intelligence and Internal Investigations Program.
- Participates in the direction of program budget preparations.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with courses in law enforcement, criminology, penology, or a related field.
- Requires four (4) years progressively responsible professional experience in law enforcement or correctional-related experience in law enforcement investigator work or a related field.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
- Requires possession of a Firearm Ownership Identification Card.
- Requires the ability to qualify with firearms within twelve months of start date, and annually thereafter in accordance with agency directive and state or federal laws.
- Requires the ability to be on-call.
- Requires the use of agency-supplied technology.
- Requires the ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires the ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
- This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act, requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest.
