Project/Unit Description
GTRI's Advanced Warfighting Technologies Division (AWTD) in the Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) seeks qualified candidates for an experienced electrical engineer.
Qualified candidates will have the technical skills to support the development, fabrication, and assessment of unmanned systems, sensors, and other prototype systems. The Advanced Warfighting Technologies Division engages in research related to counter-proliferation technologies, special operations enablers, and advanced ground maneuver concepts. AWTD provides technology development and tactical analysis for countering weapons of mass destruction, threat assessment and wargaming of ground maneuver and asymmetric warfare, and rapid technology integration and prototyping for rapid reaction warfighting capabilities for the U.S. Government and other sponsors.
The Advanced Concepts Laboratory develops tailored solutions for a broad range of national security challenges through disciplined application of physics- and effects-based modeling to realizable systems, augmented with prototype development and testing. ACL's research thrusts extend across domains, and include bio-, chemical, RF, and optical-sensor physics; materials science and engineering; electromagnetic theory, computation, structures, and measurements; electronic warfare techniques and applications; operational scenario modeling and simulation; traditional and asymmetric threat analysis; and ground maneuver warfare.
Job Purpose
The Electrical Engineer designs, develops, and tests electronic circuits fabricated to support a wide range of programs. Additionally, the Electrical Engineer utilizes electrical circuit design and analysis tools to layout and model circuit performance. The Electrical Engineer also guides assembly, test, and integration of electronic circuits as well as tests, analyzes, and diagnoses malfunctions in existing hardware. Furthermore, the Electrical Engineer researches component and material specifications and assembly and manufacturing methods for electronic circuits.
This position comes with an Onsite Work Requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop electronic circuits and assemblies at a module or sub-assembly level independently to meet task requirements
- Take ownership of small team development tasks and mentor junior engineers
- Test and troubleshoot circuits for operational readiness
- Generate documentation of hardware design and theory of operation
- Contribute to white papers and proposals
- Contribute to technical reports and presentations of project status
- Support sponsors and potential sponsor engagement
Additional Responsibilities
- Generate hardware design philosophy, interface control documents, and operation manuals
- Start-to-finish involvement in projects requiring electronic hardware design, selection, procurement, fabrication, assembly, test, and delivery
- Interfacing and designing applications that include: Radio Frequency (RF), high speed digital applications, analog circuits, power electronics, DACs, ADCs, High density components, and more
- Research emerging trends in electronic hardware
