Winpak Films Inc. is seeking a Director of Operations to join their leadership team based out of Senoia, Georgia.  

Winpak Films, a leading manufacturer of innovative packaging solutions, is seeking a results-driven Director of Operations to lead and optimize our operations in Senoia, GA. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to drive operational excellence by overseeing production, cost management, and strategic planning, while fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. This is a leadership position that oversees a team of roughly 250 individuals. The position is responsible for Operations Excellence, Production Management, Maintenance, and Capital  Project Engineering.

The Director of Operations will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination, maximize efficiency, and support the long-term goals of the business. Key Responsibilities:  

Operational Efficiency & Cost Management

  • Initiate plans and processes to minimize manufacturing costs by effectively utilizing manpower, equipment, materials, and capital. Strive to continuously improve safety, quality, and productivity while achieving business objectives.
  • Establish specific goals and objectives for the Operations group and ensure each area defines Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in alignment with those goals. Regularly review KPIs and ensure adequate resources are available to meet objectives aligned with budgeted forecasts.
  • Oversee labor and capital planning to support the Business Unit’s five-year plans, including approval of salaried and direct labor budgets, capital equipment plans, and material purchases. Ensure expenditures align with policy and support the budgeted plan.
  • Oversee production scheduling and inventory control, ensuring the management of production planning, scheduling, stock programs, and inventory levels.
  • Oversee the Maintenance and Engineering groups, ensuring adequate machine maintenance, preventive maintenance programs, spare part inventories, and appropriate staff and capital planning.
  • Oversee the Operational Excellence group, ensuring process improvements, deployment of Lean principles, and ongoing certification to ISO 9001 and SQF standards.

Safety & Compliance

  • Maintain workplace safety as a key responsibility across all levels, ensuring safety goals are clearly defined and embedded within managers' core responsibilities.
  • Ensure consistency of policies, procedures, and resources across all functional areas to promote teamwork and a supportive work environment.
  • Ensure the company’s ongoing compliance with ISO 9001-2008, SQF 2000, IMS certification, and internal standards for operations and quality.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Determine the optimum organizational structure, establishing efficient work units and appropriate support functions. Define clear lines of authority while promoting opportunities for innovation through employee empowerment.
  • Establish individual and group accountabilities for active problem-solving and cost reduction initiatives. Foster structured problem-solving and inter-departmental collaboration to support organizational goals.
  • Ensure training and development plans are implemented to support the ongoing growth of current staff and the development of future leaders.
  • Draft and disseminate all required Operations reports (monthly, quarterly, etc.) in a timely manner to the General Manager or Corporate office.
  • Partner with the Technical, Finance, and Business Development teams to support overall Business Unit performance goals as a member of the Winpak Films Advisory Committee.
  • Promote teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within the Operations group and across the company, ensuring alignment with Winpak’s operational goals and certifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Post Secondary Education in Engineering or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in a management role within a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of experience in a production environment that operated on a 24/7 schedule, managing teams where safety and quality are key priorities
  • 5+ years of experience managing operations costs and budgets to ensure financial success within operations
  • 5+ years of experience communicating and reporting to senior and executive leadership teams on strategy and operations
  • 5+ years of experience implementing & executing business unit goals through act
