Job Title: Staff AccountantLocation: Norfolk, VA – Onsite
Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant to join our onsite accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bookkeeping. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys a hands-on approach to accounting and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all entriesProcess accounts payable and accounts receivable transactionsPrepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustmentsReconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accountsAssist with month-end and year-end close processesSupport financial statement preparation and internal reportingMaintain accurate and organized accounting files and documentationAssist with audits and respond to inquiries as neededCollaborate with other departments to ensure proper financial data flow and accuracy
Qualifications:4+ years of experience in accounting, including general ledger, A/P, A/R, and bookkeepingStrong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP knowledge preferred)Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar) and Microsoft ExcelExcellent attention to detail and strong organizational skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesStrong communication and interpersonal skillsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required
