Overview: S&S Activewear is looking for a skilled Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our team on a contract basis. In this dual role, you will provide prompt and accurate guidance on payroll processing and compliance while administering employee benefits programs. Your expertise will enhance our business operations, foster client retention, and support employee engagement.

Position Details:

• Salary position - based upon experience & skill level

• Contract term - Up to 1 year 

• Standard work hours: Mon-Fri 

• Location: Onsite – Remote 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing: Accurately process bi-weekly and ad hoc payroll for employees using payroll software, calculating wages, deductions, and withholdings for retroactive pay, unpaid leave, and other salary modifications in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Compensation Adjustments: Manage total compensation adjustments for new hires, terminations, promotions, and other employee changes, while reviewing and reconciling payroll data such as timesheets, bonuses, and commissions.
  • Compliance and Best Practices: Stay current with payroll laws, regulations, and best practices, ensuring compliance with all requirements, and partnering with HR to ensure data accuracy.
  • Employee Support: Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits, including pay discrepancies, tax withholding changes, and benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations.
  • Reporting and Auditing: Prepare and distribute payroll reports for management, aid in payroll system initiatives, and assist in conducting regular audits of payroll and benefits data.
  • Benefits Administration: Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave of absence, serving as the primary contact for benefit inquiries and issue resolution.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate records of employee benefit elections, changes, and eligibility using HRIS or designated software, ensuring compliance with regulations like ACA, HIPAA, and FMLA.
  • Coordination with Providers: Coordinate with benefit providers and third-party administrators to resolve issues and ensure smooth administration of benefits programs. 

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus
