The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

The person hired for the position will be responsible for quality programs and products of major importance to the division supporting the automotive and aerospace industry. As a Sr. Quality Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most creative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Assuring compliance to 3M Code of Conduct, external regulations, customer requirements and industry standards: International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001 or International Automotive Task Force (IATF) 16949.

  • Analyzing information using statistical techniques to drive data-driven decisions by being a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in statistical techniques.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams of process owners to manage change and ensure consistent product performance that meets quality objectives.

  • Promoting continuous improvement and defect reduction through the use of quality tools: Eight Disciplines of Problem-Solving (8D), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Control Plans.

  • Reviewing complaints for timely customer feedback and resolution.

  • Supporting global customer account teams and responding to quality inquiries.

  • Aligning customer scorecard Key Performance Indicators (KPI) with internal metrics

  • Participating in internal and external quality system audits

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Five (5) years combined Quality Engineering, Product Engineering, Strong statistic reporting (Six Sigma), and/or Manufacturing experience demonstrating Automotive and/or Aerospace industry knowledge within a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited institution

  • Degreed Statistician searching for a new career opportunity.

  • Experience with LEAN Six Sigma methodology and use of quality/statistical tools

  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification such as Quality Engineer (CQE) or willingness to obtain.

  • Experience demonstrating 8D/5Why problem solving approach/methodology.

  • IATF or VDA Certified Auditor in the last 3 years • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and multi-task

  • Strong analytical decision-making and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to lead and be a contributing member of cross-functional global teams.

Travel: May include up to 25% domestic/international
