The Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for processing and maintaining payroll accuracy. They will also be responsible for monitoring and resolving payroll discrepancies and ensuring compliance with employment regulations. The individual will need to intercommunicate with staff in various departments to carry out payroll duties. They will also look after all new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes and make sure they accurately reflect in the payroll system.

Annualized pay:  $59,150  -$63,700 based on hourly wage + overtime.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll, verify timesheets and follow up with management and personnel on timecard approval requirements
  • Handle payroll paperwork
  • Ensure payroll accuracy
  • Resolve payroll issues
  • Processes wage garnishments
  •  Verifies data entry to ensure correct calculation of payroll transactions and troubleshoots discrepancies
  • Ensures all other voluntary and involuntary deductions are taken and accounted for throughout the payroll life cycle; to include (but not limited to) benefits, 401k, Kaiser/United Health Care, garnishments, etc
  • Provides excellent internal customer service
  • Partners with the HR department on process improvements and/or projects to improve inefficiencies
  • Stays current, complies with and provides interpretations on various rules, regulations, laws, contracts and policies
  • Participates in company required audits
  • Travel to different locations to train employees in a new payroll process (dependent on business needs)
  • Manage different types of tax forms
  • Compute wages using salary adjustments, bonuses, benefits, commissions, and deductions
  • Conduct electronic and manual payments
  • Keep payroll data up to date for transfers, promotions, terminations and other employee data changes
  • Prepare reports for taxes, earnings, and deductions
  • Ensure the payroll team follows company rules, codes, laws, and standards.
  • Respond to audit and tax requests
  • Reviews payroll quality assurance reports: performs analysis and takes appropriate action where results fall outside of established standard
  • Specific processes may include PTO accruals, tax reporting/payments, garnishment processing, leave accruals, W-2 Processing, W-2Cs,

 

 

Qualifications

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration or related field (Is a plus but not required)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of Payroll experience and compliance
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Customer service (internal and external)
  • Ability to use multiple programs in the MS Office Suite
  • Solid waste experience, bilingual Spanish is a plus but not required
  • Good physical agility with the ability to lift up 50lbs repetit
