Job Description Summary

The Assistant Editor will support the lead editor and post-production team in organizing, managing, and assembling footage to streamline the editing process.

The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the job:

Media Management

  • Receive all raw footage from videographers.
  • Ingest and back up raw footage.
  • Organize and label media files systematically.
  • Sync audio and video clips.

Project Setup & Workflow

  • Set up editing timelines and project files.
  • Maintain a consistent file-naming and folder structure.
  • Convert and transcode footage if needed for smooth editing.

Rough Assemblies & Selects

  • Review dailies and create string-outs of key moments for the Creative Team to review upon request.
  • Cut rough assemblies based on the notes that follow.
  • Mark best takes and organize selects for efficiency.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Reliability and professionalism are essential to this role.
  • Understanding of how to manage and organize files at front end to prepare for hand-off to Editor
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving mindset.

Education and Experience

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be enrolled at Ringling College of Art and Design
  • High level of experience with assorted post production software (Premiere Pro, Resolve)
