About the role

Supports the design, deployment, and operations of a large-scale global Oracle cloud computing environment (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - OCI). Primarily focused on the development and deployment of the physical rack layouts, cabling design, and test / qualification of the physical components deployed by Network Engineering. We are looking for engineers with a diverse background covering numerous areas of network hardware engineering including cabling, low level device performance, thermals, etc.  As OCI is a cloud-based network with a global footprint, this support will include hundreds of thousands of network devices supporting millions of servers, connected over a mix of dedicated backbone infrastructure and the Internet. 

Collaborates across teams within same org (same VP) and outside of org.  Has technical responsibility for complex project(s), including project requirements, specifications (where applicable), and documentation.  Work with supporting service teams to ensure solutions are properly supported by monitoring and automation systems. Serves as point of contact for driving systematic resolution of complex network design issues. Understand current and future cabling and optical standards, cable plant design, rack structural calculations and rack integration best practices. Collaborates with vendor engineering and account manager to address current business or operational issues. Participate in the adoption of new vendor hardware.  Active communication with product teams.  Participate in coordinated communication with product teams, networking leadership, and PMO to help assess gaps, solutions and needs.

Responsibilities

  • Create automated test scripts and frameworks to validate hardware functionality. Write code that interacts with testing equipment, collects data, and analyzes results.
  • Design and deploy, and maintain test framework for various test environments and devices under test.
  • Verify that different hardware modules work seamlessly together. Update and rerun automated tests to catch any regressions.
  • Work closely with hardware designers, firmware developers, and other stakeholders to align testing efforts with product requirements. 
  • Interpret test results, identify patterns, and collaborate with design and development teams to address any issues.
  • Assist in the evaluation, qualification, and adoption of new vendor hardware.

 

Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Physics background with 5+ years of experience
  • Proficiency in languages like Python, C++, or Java is essential for writing test scripts and automation code.
  • Knowlege of Linux/Unix environments.
  • Understanding of CI/CD, code modularity, and maintainability principles.
  • Knowledge of oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and other testing tools.
  • Understanding of hardware architecture, digital and analog circuits, and networking protocols.

US: Hiring Range: from $87,000 to $178,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
