About the role

What Your Day Will Look Like:

As a Residential Home Construction Inspector, you will oversee on‑site construction activities for residential home‑building projects to ensure all work meets approved plans, specifications, building codes, and contract requirements. Your responsibilities include inspecting materials and workmanship, monitoring progress on foundations, framing, utility installations, drainage features, and other key residential construction elements.

You will perform and document field measurements, verify contractor production and installation quantities, and track daily activities to support accurate project reporting. Working closely with the contractor’s site superintendent and relevant agency personnel, you will help coordinate inspection schedules and construction phases to maintain compliance and project efficiency.

 

This is a temporary position (40 hours per week) expected to last 4 months.  Compensation is $50-$60 per hour plus milage reimbursement.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct on‑site inspections of residential construction activities, including foundations, framing, roofing, electrical, plumbing, and drainage to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and building codes.
  • Monitor and document daily progress, including contractor work activities, materials used, and installation quality, while reporting any deficiencies or safety concerns.
  • Perform field measurements and verify quantities of installed work to support progress tracking, billing accuracy, and project closeout documentation.
  • Coordinate inspection schedules with the contractor’s superintendent, subcontractors, and agency personnel to ensure timely review of construction milestones.
  • Maintain thorough project records, including inspection reports, photos, and compliance documentation, contributing to final project packages and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Need:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant residential single or multi-family construction inspection experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
