Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Supervisor to oversee and manage the construction of sanitary sewer systems and lift stations in Lake County, Northwest Indiana. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing infrastructure projects, particularly within the wastewater sector, ensuring that all phases of construction are executed in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
As a Construction Project Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing the entire construction process from pre-construction to project closeout, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. This role requires deep technical expertise in sanitary sewer systems and lift station construction, knowledge of environmental regulations, and experience in managing subcontractors and labor teams. This position will work in our new Merrillville, IN office. Merrillville enjoys great diversity in housing, residents, and culture. Merrillville has become the crossroads of the county as it has the popular I-65 that runs through most of the town. Our local staff includes expertise in public works projects serving city, county, and DOT clients, as well as providing resources to projects across our company.
A Typical Day May Include:
- Project Planning & Execution:
- Monitor the planning, scheduling, and execution of sanitary sewer and lift station construction projects. Review project timelines, budgets, and work scopes to ensure efficient project delivery.
- Review and approve project drawings, specifications, and construction plans.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including those set by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to confirm adherence to environmental, safety, and sanitary regulations.
- Technical Oversight:
- Provide technical guidance and problem-solving during the installation of sanitary sewer systems and lift stations. Ensure the correct installation of pipelines, pumps, valves, manholes, and electrical systems associated with wastewater infrastructure.
- Supervise quality control checks on materials, workmanship, and safety protocols.
- Team Management:
- Manage and coordinate construction teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and engineers to ensure efficient project progress.
- Communicate effectively with project stakeholders including engineers, architects, local government, and inspectors. Lead project meetings, providing updates on progress, risks, and issues as they arise.
- Cost Management:
- Monitor project budgets, and control costs through resource management and efficient construction practices.
- Prepare and submit change orders and track cost variances to ensure financial control of the project.
- Health & Safety:
- Ensure that all safety protocols are followed on-site, mitigating risks and promoting a safe working environment.
- Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions when necessary.

Requirements
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing construction projects related to sanitary sewer and lift stations.
- In-depth knowledge of sewer and wastewater system design and construction methodologies.
- Familiarity with piping systems, pump stations, wet wells, force mains, and gravity sewers.
