JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Performs work in the areas of maintenance, repair, modification, and troubleshooting of equipment.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs maintenance, inspection, repair, testing, and surveillance on plant equipment.
- Repairs reactor components, pumps, hear exchangers, condensers, fuel handling equipment and boilers.
- Repairs building foundations, floors, windows, doors, roofs, plumbing, and heating & air conditioning equipment.
- Implements and performs preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment.
- Identifies problems, defects and failures that degrade component and system integrity and reliability.
- Assists engineering with testing and evaluations.
- Performs skilled work involving welding, brazing, pipefitting, pipe covering and insulating.
- Installs, aligns, assembles and disassembles equipment.
- Operates cranes, fork lifts and other equipment as required.

Performs work in complex environments that may include heights, hot environments, and within confined spaces.
- Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position
Desired: Related vocational, trade school, apprentice program, or equivalent military training
Minimum experience required of the position
- Mechanic Plant I: No prior experience required, however, experience in nuclear power plant maintenance preferred.
- Mechanic Plant II: 2-4 years of commercial nuclear experience
- Mechanic Plant Sr: 4+ years of commercial nuclear experience.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
- Desired: Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operations.
- Ability to make semi-technical calculations involved in the electrical area.
- Ability to use required tools and equipment and possess capability to make complex repairs & adjustments on plant mechanical equipment.
- Welding or Machinist experience is desired but not required.
Company Testing:
Succesful completion of EEI MASS test.
