About the role

The Training Coordinator provides hands-on oversight of a groundbreaking leader development workshop series for a select cadre of local early learning program directors.

This is a grant funded position through the Early Years Initiative Grant. The position initially runs through August 31, 2026; with the possibility of position extension with additional funding.

The Training Coordinator reports to the EYI Project Director and is based in the School of Arts, Sciences & Education at the Fort Wayne campus.

Essential Functions:

The Training Coordinator performs all the essential functions as identified below.

Implements an intensive series of training workshops in keeping with institutional requirements, funder’s goals, and the EYI project plan:

  • Functions as the convening host and on-site facilitator of in-person workshops and group events related to the EYI.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for program applicants and those selected for the training cadre, workshop presenters and technical experts, Ivy Tech faculty, vendors and suppliers, and others associated with the project.
  • Prepares a wide variety of documentation for timely reporting and accurate processing, including but not limited to EYI participant information, business transaction records, project milestone summaries, media releases, etc.
  • Maintains an essential inventory of workshop materials, training resources, meeting supplies, promotional literature, and marketing collateral.

Ensures the success of the EYI professional community of leader-learners:

  • Delivers a consistently rich professional learning experience through collegial interactions with the infant mental health consultant, peer learning group facilitator, peer coaches, and other contracted technical assistance leads contributing to the EYI.
  • Engages systematically with cadre members and other participants for feedback and suggestions to improve the training experience. Implements approved refinements to the 3-year calendar of EYI training events.
  • Fosters positive relationships through regular communication and service excellence.
  • Meets with and advises participants to resolve difficulties or concerns.

Tracks and reports project outcomes:

  • Tracks cadre member attendance and other data to validate individuals’ completion of continuing education and credentialing requirements.
  • Processes survey data from participant experiences to extract valuable insights and inform future programming decisions.
  • Develops required reports for project evaluation purposes.
  • Prepares program-related news for the Ivy Tech website and other distribution channels.

Assists the EYI Project Director:

  • Accompanies or represents the Project Director at routine meetings, special events and other activities involving key stakeholders within the Northeast Indiana early childhood ecosystem.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

Work Hours:

20-25 hrs. on average per week, Monday-Friday with occasional Saturdays as scheduled for training events. Actual hours will vary according to the EYI implementation calendar.

Minium Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Minimum: Associate degree in education, human resources, health or social sciences, organizational development, or other field.
  • Preferred: Additional credentialing or specialized training in children’s growth and learning, healthy family formation, leadership, and/or service sector administration.

  • Experience:
  • Three (3) or more years of staff or instructional experience in an academic, corporate training, professional education, business, or other related setting.
  • Experience that demonstrates the ability to effectively manage large projects with many small details.
  • Experience that demonstrates an ability to inspire team play among multiple parties and be successful in meeting a significant group goal.

  • Key competencies, dispositions, and abilities:
  • A teachable spirit and natural desire to learn.
  • High levels of self-awareness, personal authenticity, and cultural competence.
  • Effective written, verbal, platform, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Office software (especially MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), and other applications typically used by educational institutions or training organizations.
  • Ability to travel for meetings across Allen County and throughout Northeast Indiana.
