Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Iterative Health is pioneering the use of artificial intelligence-based precision medicine in gastroenterology, with the aim of helping to optimize clinical trials investigating the treatment of IBD. We use advanced machine learning and computer vision to interpret endoscopic videos along with other types of data, helping clinicians better assess patients with potential GI problems. Ultimately, the company aims to establish more meaningful endpoints to serve as better predictors of both therapeutic response and disease outcomes.
Iterative Health is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer. This is a dynamic, fast-paced role that will require creative thinking and strong machine learning, computer vision, and software development fundamentals. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a diverse team of engineers and scientists in addition to having a track record of developing machine learning and especially deep learning and computer vision models for solving challenging real-world scientific problems.
What you’ll be doing:
The core responsibilities of this role include designing and implementing advanced and scalable deep-learning models on medical images and videos to analyze various conditions and objects with different spatial, temporal, and resolution constraints using
- detection,
- classification,
- segmentation,
- registration.
Required Skills:
- Graduate Degree in computer science or other quantitative fields or Bachelor of Science with similar practical experience in an industrial or research setting.
- In-depth knowledge and experience developing, troubleshooting, and validating deep learning models in Python using PyTorch.
- Significant professional experience with computer vision libraries such as Pillow, scikit-image, and OpenCV.
- Strong written/verbal technical communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven working knowledge of Cloud Computing (AWS), PostgreSQL, Docker
- Regularly mentored and guided junior engineers.
Preferred Skills:
- Ph.D. in computer science or other quantitative fields.
- Maintain deep technical and industry knowledge of the state-of-the-art machine learning and computer vision methods
- Prior experience leading the development of large projects, including technical design, breakdown of work, estimation, implementation, risk management, and deployment.
- Significant experience with developing deep learning models using PyTorch working in the areas of video and image processing.
- Knowledge of computer vision tasks, including detection, segmentation, and classification.
- Extensive experience with various services of Cloud Computing (AWS)
