About the role

The SMT Production Engineer II is responsible for all technical aspects of the SMT production area. This person will lead continuous improvement initiatives and work closely with management to support area +QDIP initiatives through the use of VES tools.

Day to day:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain procedures for SMT production process

  • Program and optimize SMT machinery, including pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and stencil printers

  • Optimize production workflows to increase efficiency and reduce waste

  • Maintain training and documentation for production staff on SMT techniques and best practices

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in SMT technology

  • Identify, prioritize, and lead continuous improvement initiatives through VES framework

  • Solve technical issues by identifying root cause(s) and identifying both short-term and long-term countermeasures

  • Provide input to product design teams for lean manufacturing production and design for manufacturability during all phases of New Product Introduction

  • Create action plans that are used to ensure on-time completion of projects

  • Create and updates Manufacturing work instructions and validates manufacturing processes and equipment

  • Identify and own capital equipment procurement requirements and projects

  • Initiate engineering change orders and documentation changes while meeting corporate quality systems standards.  Ability to coordinate changes cross-functionally with planning, purchasing, supplier quality, development, regulatory, and manufacturing

  • Ensure company, industry, and regulatory standards are met

Are you qualified?

  • B.S. or equivalent in related Engineering or Technology degree; minimum of 3 years’ equivalent work experience with demonstrated troubleshooting experience

  • 1 – 3 years’ experience in related manufacturing environment preferred

  • Experience with design change processes (ECO/DCO) required

  • Proven experience leading technical projects utilizing knowledge of lean manufacturing required

  • CAD (2D/3D) experience preferred
