Position Summary
Applied Materials is seeking a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) Analyst to support U.S. FTZ operations within our Global Trade Operations team. This role is focused on the execution, monitoring, and analysis of FTZ transactions to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations while supporting efficient supply chain operations.
The FTZ Analyst will play a key role in day‑to‑day FTZ operational activities, data integrity, reporting, and issue resolution. This position partners closely with Logistics, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, IT, and external service providers to support compliant FTZ admissions, inventory movements, and removals.
This role provides strong exposure to U.S. import/export regulations and FTZ program requirements and is well‑suited for a trade professional who enjoys detailed analysis, operational execution, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
FTZ Operations & Compliance Support
- Execute and support daily FTZ operations, including admissions, inventory movements, manufacturing consumption, exports, and zone removals
- Ensure FTZ transactions are performed in accordance with CBP regulations, FTZ procedures, and internal SOPs
- Prepare, review, and support filing of CBP Forms 214, 216, 7501, and 7512 in coordination with brokers and internal stakeholders
- Monitor FTZ inventory activity to ensure timely, accurate, and complete reporting
- Support reconciliation of FTZ inventory records and assist in researching and resolving discrepancies
Data Analysis, Reporting & Controls
- Maintain accurate FTZ records and supporting documentation for compliance and audit purposes
- Perform data validation and analysis to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities within FTZ operations
- Assist with preparation of periodic FTZ reports, internal metrics, and compliance monitoring dashboards
- Support internal audits, CBP reviews, and compliance assessments by gathering data and documentation
- Track and support analysis of FTZ savings and duty deferral benefits
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Logistics, Warehouse Operations, Manufacturing, Finance, IT, and Trade Compliance to support compliant FTZ execution
- Work with external partners including Customs brokers, 3PLs, and service providers to resolve operational issues
- Provide operational guidance to internal teams on FTZ transaction requirements and data needs
- Escalate compliance risks or systemic issues to FTZ leadership with supporting analysis and recommendations
Process Improvement & Documentation
- Support maintenance of FTZ SOPs, work instructions, and process flows
- Identify process gaps and assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to FTZ execution, data quality, and system controls
- Participate in system enhancements, testing, and implementation efforts related to FTZ functionality (e.g., SAP or FTZ software)
Minimum Requirements: Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3–6 years of experience in trade compliance, customs operations, FTZ operations, or import/export execution
