Global Medical Head - Cardiorenal

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Biopharmaceuticals Medical team (BPM) as Global Medical Head, Cardiorenal, working within our growing Cardiovascular Renal Metabolism (CVRM) Therapy Area (TA), on assets currently on the market as well as coming through development .

Introduction to role:

As the Global Medical Head, Cardiorenal, you will shape product and disease area strategy, drive preparations for product approval and launch, engage in life cycle management, provide strategic direction for evidence generation, education and publication, and liaise extensively externally to further the scientific leadership of AZ in this space. It is a critical strategic leadership position that reports directly to the VP Medical Affairs CVRM. You will be a member of the CVRM BPM leadership team, as well as global product/brand teams and will lead a team of medical professionals. You will be expected to develop a strong network with regions and countries and will have the ability to pair your own unique medical expertise with insight from markets, healthcare professionals, patients and health systems.

Accountabilities:

• Enterprise Leadership: Leads the global CVRM BPM Cardiorenal team, partnering with key stakeholders internally and externally

• Strategic Vision and Direction: Accountable for the development, integration, and implementation of strategic medical plans at a global level

• External Scientific Engagement: Credibly sets and drives an ambitious external engagement agenda, forming strategic alliances and partnerships that can shape healthcare and best practices in the cardiorenal therapy area

• Launch, Performance and Life-cycle Management: Drives innovation and sets key performance indicators (KPIs) to shape disease state understanding, surface new opportunities, and deliver strategic medical plans that are competitive for current and future needs

Essential skills/experience:

• Doctoral level degree (MD, PhD, and/or PharmD)

• 7-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, ideally in Medical Affairs, working at the country and global/regional level

• Background/expertise in cardiorenal science/medicine

• Experienced team leader at a global/regional level, with a track record of establishing high performance teams

• Demonstrated track record delivering results in a complex matrix environment, building capabilities, and leading large scale impactful medical initiatives

• Strong analytical mind-set and ability to quickly assess large amounts of information and distil into key messages and actions

• Proven ability to build internal and external networks and to collaborate across geographies and cultures; enterprise leader mindset

• Significant experience presenting to senior leadership; persuasive oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver executive presentations

• Understanding of the complex and evolving Medical space, including both existing stakeholders and future trends
