Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapy Lead is responsible for coordinating and performing various technical and administrative duties to administer respiratory therapy treatments to assigned patients.

Qualifications

Experience
Experience and knowledge of all areas of acute care respiratory therapy. 5-7 years required

Essential Functions (Key Roles & Responsibilities)
- Ability to be a subject matter expert in the area of Respiratory Therapy and be able to communicate effectively with patients, team members, and other healthcare disciplines.
- Ability to assess quickly and offer professional judgment to prepare an appropriate care plan and make specific recommendations to the physician for indicated therapy.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to walk distances and push medical equipment weighing less than 100 pounds.
- May also be required to stand immobile for long periods of time.
- Advanced communication skills to lead a team.

-Must be able to interact appropriately with an individual’s intellectual level and physical ability: Infants, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric.

-Coordinate the clinical operation of the respiratory care department during assigned shifts.

-Coordinate/ educates new hire staff orientation, competency assessment, development, planning, training, and retraining as assigned.

-Brings ongoing performance problems to the attention of the Supervisor.

-Contribute to the annual performance review of staff members.

-Collaborate with the Supervisor of Respiratory care in planning, policy, and procedural changes.

-Assist with schedule staff and obtain staffing coverage for vacations, sick calls, and surges in RC volume to meet the needs of the organization.

-Assist in interviewing and providing input to the Supervisor, Respiratory Care, on candidates for employment.

-Must be able to take on-call shifts to meet department needs.

-Follow all organizational and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, confidentiality, quality improvement program, compliance, safety, infection control, environmental standards, and information management systems standards of use.

-Maintain professional growth and development through attendance at seminars, workshops, conferences, or in-services, professional affiliations, or journals to stay abreast of current trends in the field of expertise and to fulfill all national and state CE requirements.

-Meet annual competency and retraining requirements.

-Attends staff meetings.

-Schedule will be rotating depending on department needs.

-Assist in ordering supplies for department, nursing education opportunities, and performs other duties assigned.

-Complies with all policies and standards

Registered Respiratory Therapist [RRT] - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) preferred Basic Life Support [BLS] - Generic - HR Only preferred Neonatal Resuscitation [NRP] - ACLS Medical Training preferred Respiratory Care Practitioner [State License] - Generic - HR Only preferred
