POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose of the Pharmacy Technician is to assist the Pharmacist with the day-to-day activities in the pharmacy, but not including the duties restricted to only a Pharmacist or Pharmacist Intern.
REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Strong background and/or education in health care.
- Good mathematical skills.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must either be registered through the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy as a Non-certified Pharmacy Technician or have current national certification and NM license as a Pharmacy Technician.
- Must be registered or certified and licensed by date of hire.
- In both cases, must be under the direct supervision of a Pharmacist throughout employment.
- All technicians are required to obtain national Pharmacy Technician Certification within one year of registration as a Non-certified Pharmacy Technician from a NM Board-approved national body such as the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Health career Association (NHA). In addition, must obtain a Pharmacy Technician License from the New Mexico Board of Pharmacy.
- After obtaining national certification and NM license, must maintain current throughout employment.
