K-12 Cook

We are seeking a dependable and customer-focused Cook to join our K-12 food service team. The ideal candidate will help create a positive dining experience for students by preparing meals that meet our quality and food safety standards. This role requires attention to detail, professionalism, and a strong commitment to providing excellent service.

 

Qualifications

• Previous food service experience preferred; customer service experience desired
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic
• Ability to make accurate change and operate a basic computation device
• Contributes to a positive and supportive work environment
• Demonstrates integrity and maintains confidentiality
• Dependable and punctual with consistent attendance
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Maintains a clean, neat, and professional appearance
• Follows all food safety requirements and guidelines
• Must successfully pass a criminal background check

Qualifications

The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals in a K-12 school environment while maintaining strict food safety and sanitation standards. This role supports daily kitchen operations, contributes to a positive experience for students and staff, and ensures that all meals are prepared according to established recipes, portion guidelines, and program requirements. The Cook works collaboratively with the kitchen team and may perform a variety of tasks including food preparation, serving, cleaning, and assisting with inventory.

 

 

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and serve menu items following standardized recipes and portion guidelines
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and service area
• Set up and break down serving stations and equipment
• Follow all food safety, HACCP, and sanitation requirements
• Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies
• Operate kitchen equipment safely and appropriately
• Provide courteous and efficient service to students, staff, and guests
• Accurately complete required production records and documentation as assigned
• Assist with dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, and general cleaning
• Communicate needs, issues, or concerns to the Kitchen Manager or Food Service Director
• Support a positive and team-oriented work environment
• Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations
