Full job description

The Youth Group Leader is assigned to an elementary or middle school age classroom of 11 to 15 children. The Group Leader provides activities in three focus areas: Creative and Performing Arts, Athletics and Health or STEM. This role requires a passion for working with youth, strong mentoring skills, and the ability to implement developmentally appropriate programs. The 2024 Summer Enrichment Program is a 6-week, in-person, 5 days per week course.


Primary Responsibilities/ Tasks:

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of daily activities.
  • Engage youth in activities that increase their motivation to read and deliver structured literacy-inspired and fun programing related to Arts, Athletics/Health and STEM.
  • Conduct activities for youth to identify strengths and interests and related careers, with special attention to the variety of careers in creative economy, sports industry, STEM.
  • Facilitate staggered drop off and dismissal for participants as needed.
  • Support teachers during specific workshops and academic focused classes.
  • Organize program supplies such as pens, pencils, markers, books, and paper.
  • Assist in cleaning and disinfecting classrooms areas during the day as needed.
  • Attend all staff meetings, training, workshops.
  • Other duties as assigned by Director.


Requirements

 Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma. Associate degree preferred from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field.
  • Must have three years of experience with children.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect and engage with diverse youth populations.
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills to establish rapport and build trust.
  • Ability to implement and adapt programming to meet the developmental needs of youth
  • Current PA state Criminal Clearance, DHS Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Fingerprint, Health Assessment with Mantoux TB Shot, National Sex Offenders Registration Clearance
  • Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)
  • Must be able to work independently, be reliable and organized.

Job Types: Part-time, TemporaryPay: $18.00 per hourSchedule:

  • Monday to Friday
