About the role
Description:
R&D Interconnect Solutions is seeking an Engineering Technician at our Allentown, PA location. The Engineering Technician will be trained to operate and program production equipment such as pick & place and solder paste reflow equipment as well as measurement instruments, learn CAD/CAM tools, assemble elastomeric product, inspect product, and write and follow standard operating procedures.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operate manufacturing equipment: set-up, program, operation, and shutdown
- Read and interpret work instructions and electronic and printed documents and forms
- Plan and execute complex development projects in collaboration with engineers and other technicians and analyze resulting data
- Inspect product using microscope and electronic measurement equipment; identify defects and determine root cause of process related issues
- Identify and segregate Quality related issues
- Solder small components onto PCB’s
- Solder under a microscope
- Perform rework
- Enter data into ERP system
- Suggest process improvements and cost reductions
- Follow clean room policies, practice 6S principles in order to maintain a safe, neat, and orderly workplace
- Adhere to all safety rules and regulations
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Familiarity with various inspection tools and electronic test/measurement equipment
- Ability to solder under a microscope
- Familiarity with SPC
- Must hold U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status
- Position requires the ability to stand/walk for more than 50% of the workday
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Ability to comfortably and competently communicate with engineers, technicians and operators
- Good computer skills, fluency with MS Word and Excel
- Ability to read, write and clearly communicate in English
- Ability to read and understand standard operating procedures
- Ability to interpret prints and specifications
- Strong attention to detail required
- Ability to produce quality work under pressure – in a quick-turn environment
- Ability to skillfully utilize a microscope
- Moderate physical lifting (up to 40 lbs)
- Experience with electronic component assembly onto circuit boards is a plus
Education:
- AS or BS Degree in an engineering discipline
