Description

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW), ranked the No. 1 hospital in the Dallas–Fort Worth area and No. 2 in Texas by U.S. News & World Report, invites applications for a part-time, board-certified Physiatrist with a record of clinical excellence and extramurally funded research.

This position offers an outstanding opportunity to join a nationally recognized academic medical center and contribute to a rapidly expanding Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) that spans three major hospitals and multiple affiliated outpatient clinics within the UTSW Health System.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing innovative, patient-centered rehabilitation care and translational research that enhance functional outcomes and quality of life for individuals recovering from injury, illness, or disability.

Qualifications

  • Education: MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent)
  • Board Certification: ABPMR Board certified or eligible
  • Licensure: Eligible for Texas medical licensure (must acquire prior to employment)

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will be an integral part of one of the nation’s largest and most prestigious PM&R training programs, where they will mentor and engage with residents, fellows, and medical students. This position offers the unique opportunity to shape the future of the program while directly impacting both the educational development of future healthcare professionals and the clinical care provided to patients. 

Clinically, the candidate will be responsible for assessing and addressing the physical and functional needs of individuals dealing with disabilities or chronic health conditions. They will help patients manage pain, improve mobility, and restore function. This involves creating and implementing personalized rehabilitation plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs and abilities. 

In addition, in this role you will work in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including psychologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care and promote the patient’s maximum independence. The candidate must demonstrate strong diagnostic skills, empathy, and the ability to guide patients toward achieving both physical recovery and overall well-being.
