Senior Customer Success Engineer

About the Team:

At Netlify, the Customer Success team works hand-in-hand with high profile customers to ensure their success building with composable architecture. We help customers achieve real business results: 

• Improving front end performance to drive higher SEO traffic and conversion rates
• Speeding up build performance to improve content and development velocity
• Getting the most out of the stack of their choice to create innovative web experiences

We know that when customers achieve the business goals they are aiming for, they will stick with Netlify for the long term. Besides this, we also get valuable product feedback from these customers that helps shape our forward vision. 

What You'll Do:

As a Senior Customer Success Engineer, you’ll work with customers in our Tech Lead program to:

• Ensure customers are wildly successful on their journey with Netlify. We have a growing and diverse mix of customers with a range of skills from beginner to expert. You’ll work directly with these customers to help identify and troubleshoot technical issues that impede their progress. You will also drive feedback into product and engineering to directly improve Netlify.
• Help customers get results. You will help our largest customers to ensure they have an optimal Netlify experience. You’ll work with customers in pairing sessions over Zoom, chatting on Slack, and leading training sessions over Zoom to help them plan their projects, review their code, guide them through implementation of a new feature, and learn new topics in modern web development.
• Deep dive into performance issues on customers’ sites. As an engineer, you’ll work closely with customers to help them identify performance issues on their sites, discover recommendations for how they can fix them, and clearly present these recommendations.
• Identify and recommend build improvements for customers. Nobody likes to wait for a build to complete, and you’ll drive massive value for our customers by identifying bottlenecks in their builds, freeing hours of time for their developers and content editors.

What You'll Bring:

• Expertise in the modern JavaScript ecosystem. Customers will be relying on you to give them advice on what tools to use and the best way to solve their problems. You’ll leverage your broad experience in the JavaScript ecosystem to guide and help them feel confident in your recommendations.
• Experience shipping and working on large React projects (Next.js, Gatsby, Remix) in production. While there is a lot of diversity in the projects hosted on Netlify, 61% of enterprise sites hosted on Netlify are React-based, and these customers will be relying on your expertise.
• Ability to dive into complex web performance problems. You should be able to quickly assess, understand, and assess where and how performance issues arise in customer code so you can teach customers how to improve their frontend performance.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills. You’ll communicate clearly and concisely via email, Notion, Github, Slack, and Zoom to name a few.
• Ready and willing to ask and answer questions. You’re comfortable saying you’re unsure, asking for help, and reaching out to assist others. You thrive and Netlify thrives because of continuous learning.

Experience it would be nice if you had, but isn’t required

• Public speaking experience. You may have given talks at a local meetup, or even at a conference in front of hundreds of people. You enjoy empowering others by teaching them what you know to help them achieve their goals.
• You have experience with non-React projects like Vue or Nuxt.js. While most of our customers are working with React, a non-trivial percentage are working with other frameworks as well!
