Opening its doors in 2013 and expanding in 2017, this state-of-the-art acute care facility has 177 patient rooms and offers a wide variety of services to meet community needs. Cleveland Clinic’s inpatient pharmacy areas support distributive and clinical pharmacy services provided by staff pharmacists, clinical pharmacy specialists and pharmacy technicians, supporting units, ORs, PACUs and/or cath labs at Tradition Hospital. As a Pharmacy Technician, you play an essential role in keeping patients safe and comfortable throughout their experience. At Cleveland Clinic, you will find your position here differs significantly from similar roles at other facilities.  

A caregiver in this position works various shifts between the hours of 6:30 a.m. -- 10:00 p.m.  with every other weekend and 2 holidays

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.  
  • Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner. 
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.  
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations. 
  • Document regulatory requirements, including temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.  
  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.  
  • Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students. 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:   

  • A high school diploma or GED  
  • Licensed in Florida as a Registered Pharmacy Technician  
  • Ability to communicate with other caregivers and patients in an effective and positive manner 
  • Demonstration of emotional control and intelligence in managing work relationships  
  • Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds  
  • Basic computer skills  

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:    

  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program  
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). CPhT through the PTCB is required within 18 months of hire  
  • Six months of hospital experience
