Family Services Caseworker

LOCATION: Hobbs, NM

STATUS: PT/20 hrs/wk

QUALIFICATIONS:

• HS Diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 2 years office experience preferred
• Ability to remain calm in a fast paced environment.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities
• Bi-lingual Spanish preferred
• Ability to work with a diverse population with poise and ease
• Demonstrate a positive attitude, with ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances
• Able to maintain a non-judgement attitude, professional approach and boundaries with clients
• Able to handle crisis/emergency services for the homeless and to utilize conflict resolution skills
• Ability to assess at risk participants and situations
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills required
• Strong attention to detail and neatness required
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process intake for all clients coming to Family Services Office for assistance
• Issue vouchers according to policy
• Schedule appointments for clients needing utility or rent assistance
• Ensure that clients complete paperwork accurately and completely
• Ensure that clients have required documentation and meet qualifications for assistance
• Assist Corps Officers with outreach events
• Enter client data into Bridges and Others in a timely fashion
• Assist at Food Warehouse as needed and as related to the social service program
• Make sure client’s files are orderly and filed accurately
• Answer incoming calls
• Assist with Christmas Angel Tree program
• Other duties as assigned as they relate to the position of Family Service Clerk

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
