Job Description
The Senior Director, GCM Program Management will provide enterprise-level leadership for the planning, governance, execution, and delivery of complex Global Capability Management initiatives. This role will ensure strategic priorities are translated into integrated, actionable programs with clear ownership, disciplined execution, measurable outcomes, and strong alignment to Takeda’s mission of bringing better health to people and a brighter future to the world.
As a senior leader within the Global Capabilities Management Centre of Excellence, this role will drive enterprise program governance, cross-functional alignment, financial discipline, risk management, executive reporting, and decision enablement across the GCM portfolio. The Senior Director will partner with senior stakeholders across functions and geographies to ensure the GCM agenda is delivered with rigor, transparency, and sustainable business impact.
Accountabilities:
Enterprise Program Leadership
- Lead the end-to-end planning, governance, and execution of enterprise GCM initiatives, ensuring clear scope, milestones, dependencies, decision points, ownership, and critical path management.
- Establish and maintain integrated program plans across workstreams, enabling senior leadership visibility into progress, risks, resource needs, financial implications, and delivery outcomes.
- Drive disciplined execution through structured governance forums, executive-ready materials, decision tracking, action management, and proactive escalation of issues that may impact scope, timing, cost, quality, or business value.
Strategic Cross-Functional Alignment
- Partner with senior functional leaders, GCC site leadership, Finance, HR, DD&T, Legal, GCM Transition Management, Change Management, and external partners to align priorities, resolve interdependencies, and accelerate decision-making.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to GCM leadership by translating complex program activity into clear insights, trade-offs, recommendations, and executive-level narratives.
- Strengthen ways of working across the GCM portfolio by improving governance routines, operating rhythms, stakeholder communications, planning standards, and portfolio management discipline.
Risk, Financial Discipline & Business Continuity
- Lead portfolio-level risk, issue, dependency, and mitigation management, ensuring risks are surfaced early, assessed consistently, and addressed through actionable plans with clear accountability.
- Oversee financial governance for assigned GCM initiatives, including budget tracking, variance analysis, service delivery implications, and recommendations to support responsible investment and value realization.
- Ensure business continuity considerations are embedded into program planning, transition activities, governance materials, and leadership updates.
Education & Competencies (Technical and Behavioral):
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred. Relevant professional certification in project, program, portfolio, transformation, or change management preferred.
Experience
- 15+ years of progressive experience leading large-scale enterprise programs, transformations, or operating model implementations, ideally within Global Business Services or Global Capability Center (GBS/GCC) environments.
- Demonstrated experience operating at senior leadership levels, influencing executive stakeholders, facilitating governance forums, and enabling high-quality decisions across functions and geographies.
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional programs with multiple workstreams, interdependencies, external partners, resource constraints, financial implications, and business-critical outcomes.
- Experience developing executive-ready program governance artifacts, including integrated plans, portfolio dashboards, RAID logs, decision records, financial summaries, status reports, action trackers, and leadership materials.
